Animal Control Officer
South Auckland Region

Are you looking for a stimulating career that can be satisfying and rewarding? Have you got what it takes to become an animal control officer?

DSS Animal Management is the largest provider of animal control services to local authorities within New Zealand. We currently have a vacancy within our South Auckland team of officers.

The position involves responding to complaints received from the public mainly relating to dogs, liaising with dog owners and complainants, capturing stray dogs (sometimes aggressive) and educating the public about the responsibilities of dog ownership. The key to success in this role is the ability to deal competently and confidently with dog owners and the complainants. Excellent communication and written skills are required, as each complaint is investigated, and documented. Full training will be given in all aspects of this position. The successful applicant will be required to work rostered shifts and have a reasonable level of fitness, a clean drivers’ licence, and no criminal record.

Application forms can be downloaded from the panel on the right. Part 1 must be completed by hand and signed by the applicant then posted with Part 2 (also completed by hand) and any other supporting documents to DSS at the address below. Email applications or applications not using the prescribed forms will NOT be considered.
