‘Responsible Dog Owner’ status

Both Wellington City Council and Manukau City Council (and some other City and District Councils) offer incentives to responsible dog owners by awarding them ‘Responsible Dog Owner’ status.  To be eligible any dog owner can apply and if they reach the required criteria will be awarded this status.

We believe that the dog owner who acts responsibly, and cares for their dog so it is contented and healthy and is not a nuisance to others, should be recognised and rewarded.

Manukau City and Wellington City Responsible Dog Owners

The ‘Responsible Dog Owner’ status gives dog owners in Manukau City and Wellington City a substantial discount on their annual registration fee.  This status applies to any dogs registered to that owner and remains with the owner as long as they maintain an acceptable level of dog ownership.

When Manukau City dog owners apply a handbook is issued that will provide all the information needed to become a ‘Responsible Owner’. You must show that you are a RESPONSIBLE dog owner by your actions.
