Lost Dogs

Your dog has gone missing. What do you do? If an Animal Control Officer has picked up your dog it would have been taken to your Council’s Dog Pound/Animal Shelter. If it is currently registered and/or microchipped and is wearing its tag then it is easily identified and you will get notification that they are holding your dog. (Please ensure that you always advise your local council dog control if you are changing address, leaving the district, if your dog changes owner or if it dies).

If your dog is not registered and has no identification then you should ring the Dog Pound/Animal Shelter to see if your dog has been picked up and to advise them that you have lost your dog. Also contact neighbouring councils Dog Pounds/Shelters. Ring the local veterinary clinics and SPCA. Check the Internet ( Visit our Links Page ). Put a notice in your local newspapers, display a notice in local shops and put a flyer in neighbours’ letterboxes.
